For the third year in a row, Ledo d.d. has won the prestigious award from the International Ice Cream Consortium for the world's most innovative ice cream.
On 14 November 2012, the International Ice Cream Consortium (IICC) in Auckland awarded Ledo d.d. the award for the world's most innovative ice cream for the Hot Love ice cream. Chairman of the IICC, Sudhir Chavan formally handed the award to Ledo d.d. marketing director Davorin Šimunić, who on that occasion stated:
"I am exceptionally proud and happy that the ice cream Hot Love can boast of having the title of most innovative, especially considering the very tough competition of ice cream producers from around the world. Creativity, quality, cutting edge technology and an expert team of people at Ledo are responsible for the fact that we win the Oscar of ice creams from year to year. Our new Hot Love ice cream is truly a special combination of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate and sour cherry sauces – a perfect combination of flavours. With this product, we wanted to allow consumers to enjoy ice cream in the winter months, and to extend consumption of our products throughout the year."
The International Ice Cream Consortium has been active for 23 years, bringing together ice cream producers from every part of the globe to a different place every year, where a members' conference and the formal awards ceremony are held. For the third year in a row, the IICC has awarded the Croatian company Ledo d.d. with the award for the world's most innovative ice cream. In 2010 in Mexico, Ledo won this prize for its ice cream King Extra Amadeus, and one year later took the same title for the Ledo Cake on a Stick, while this year, the prestigious title of 'most innovative' went to the Hot Love ice cream multipack.
The Hot Love ice cream package contains four cups of vanilla ice cream and two cups of sauce, one chocolate and the other sour cherry with pieces of sour cherries. The ice cream is innovative due to the combination of the cold taste of vanilla and the hot taste of the chocolate or sour cherry sauce, which is simply heated in the microwave.
